| | | | | | Eletrobras is responsible for 54,104.94 km of transmission lines and 247 substations.
Besides it operates and maintains this system in compliance with the performance and quality standards required by the National Agency of Electrical Power (Aneel), Eletrobras has been actively taking part in the transmission expansion through concessions in auctions promoted by Aneel, solely or by means of consortiums, as well as through authorizations to reinforce the current system.
New developments
The main transmission projects being developed by the Eletrobras companies, supported by the Growth Acceleration Program (PAC), are:
- LT 230 kV Ji-Paraná – Pimenta Bueno – Vilhena C1 (RO)
- LT 230 kV Funil – Itapebi C3 (BA)
- LT 230 kV Ibicoara – Brumado II (BA)
- LT 230 kV Paraíso – Açu II C2 (RN)
- LT 230 kV Picos – Tauá (PI/CE)
- LT 230 kV Milagres – Coremas II (PI/PB)
- LT 345 kV Campos – Macaé (RJ)
- LT 345 kV Tijuco Preto – Itapeti – Nordeste (SP)

International interconnections
Brazil has six mid- and large-sized interconnections with other countries in South America, four of which are operated by the Eletrobras companies:
- With Paraguay, through four transmission lines in 500 kV interconnecting the Itaipu Plant to the Margem Direita substation (Paraguay) and to the Foz do Iguaçu substation (Brazil). The 50Hz sector power of Itaipu is then transmitted to Ibiúna substation (SP) by a direct-current transmission system with a capacity of 6,300 MW;
- With Uruguay, through the Rivera frequency converting station, with a capacity of 70 MW (Uruguay) and a transmission line in 230 kV, linking it to Livramento substation (Brazil);
- With Argentina, through the Uruguaiana frequency converting station, with a capacity of 50 MW (Brazil) and a transmission line in 132 kV, linking it to Paso de los Libres (Argentina);
- With Venezuela, through a transmission line in 230 kV, with a capacity de 200 MW, interconnecting Boa Vista city, in the State of Rondônia, to Santa Elena city (Venezuela).
